Agricultural Building

How We Install Your Agricultural Building

Our team can cover the full installation process of your agricultural building, starting with the foundations and ending with the final tidy-up. 

Stage 1: Foundations

  • Foundations are excavated to the required depth and size for your building.
  • Concrete is poured and cast in the bolt boxes, which is then left to fully cure.

Stage 2: Steel Frame Erection

  • Steel packs are set on the base plates to get the correct height before the columns go up.
  • The columns are erected and the eaves beams and ties are fitted to begin forming the frame structure.
  • Wall bracing is fitted to keep the frame rigid.
  • Rafters are then erected and secured using roof purlins and roof bracing.
  • Door columns are put in place and the side and gable rails are fitted.

Stage 3: Lining, Levelling and Safety Prep

  • All the steelwork is carefully lined and levelled 
  • Once aligned, the column bases are grouted in to lock everything in position.
  • Handrail and safety netting are fitted at this point, ready for the roof installation.

Stage 4: Roof Installation

  • The roof sheets are installed.
  • Once the roof is on, the safety nets and handrail used during installation are dropped and removed.
  • Drip flashing is fitted where required to manage water run-off at the eaves.

Stage 5: Cladding, Doors and Finishing

  • Wall cladding is then fitted.
  • Flashings and gutters are installed to weatherproof the structure and direct rainwater away.
  • Any doors are hung and adjusted.
  • The site is tidied and cleared, leaving you with a clean and finished building ready to use.

How long does it take to install a steel building?

It can take anywhere from just a few weeks or several months to install a steel building, as larger structures will take longer than smaller ones. Other factors may include complexity and unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions. However, one great benefit of steel industrial buildings is they can be prefabricated. This means the components of the building, such as beams, columns and walls are manufactured off-site at our workshop. This makes their installations a much quicker process compared to other types of buildings.
