Grain Storage Sheds

At Kit Buildings Direct, our team of experts can design and manufacture grain sheds to suit your specific requirements and storage capacity needs.

With crop cycles requiring a long time before harvest, having the perfect places to store your grain is essential to protect against the risk of damage or loss.

All steelwork used for our grain sheds is manufactured at our Derby workshop to CE marking standards and can be clad using a range of options from fibre cement to 0.7mmth box profile metal sheeting. Our roofs also include specific air gaps to ensure clear airflow without allowing excess draught; ensuring that your grain is safe from outside elements whilst having sufficient ventilation to avoid excess moisture.

We can also supply concrete panels if required, which can both withstand the pressure of your grain harvest and protect your supply from vermin or theft. Alternatively, for larger structures or greater storage requirements, we can discuss the inclusion of internal retaining walls during the design stage as these will allow your grain storage sheds to withstand even the largest harvest with ease.

We have provided many grain shed kit buildings to a variety of customers. They are all pleased with the finished product which is a quality storage building for their grain.

What are my foundation and installation options for a grain shed?

We can quote for both foundation and installation works for our grain sheds. The best option will depend on your soil type, shed size and how the building will be used. This is something we discuss at the enquiry stage so we can provide accurate pricing and the right design solution.

Do I need planning permission or building regulations approval for a grain shed?

Similar to livestock buildings, grain sheds may fall under permitted development rights, but larger or permanent structures often require planning permission from your local planning authority. Building regulations approval may be needed in some circumstances too, especially where structural safety or public safety access is concerned. You should always consult your local council before ordering or building or contact us for further advice.

What cladding, roof and ventilation options do you offer for grain storage?

For grain stores, we commonly clad in fibre cement sheeting, which offers excellent durability and performance in agricultural environments. The standard roof is a steel-framed system that protects stored grain from the elements while allowing for natural airflow. Farmers usually install their own drying and mechanical ventilation systems depending on their storage process, and our buildings are designed to work alongside this equipment.
