What Does Our Industrial Building Installation Service Include?

Our full industrial building installation service covers your project end-to-end.

Site survey: we assess your site, ground conditions and access to plan the safest and most practical position for the building.

Bespoke manufacturing: all steelwork is fabricated in our own Derby workshop to UKCA-marked standards for consistent quality. Steel frames can be galvanised or painted for a long-lasting finish, and you can read more on preventing rust and corrosion in steel framed buildings in our guide.

Delivery and installation: we transport your building to the site and carry out the full assembly.

Because the steel frame is prefabricated before it reaches you, it arrives ready to erect. This keeps the site tidy and cuts the time your operation is disrupted. Our expert team installs nationwide and can take care of every element, including:

How We Install Your Industrial Building

Our team manages the complete industrial building installation process, starting at the foundations and finishing with the final site clear-up. 

Stage 1: Foundations 

• Foundations are excavated to the depth and size your building requires.
• Concrete is poured and cast around the bolt boxes, then left to fully cure before any steel goes up. 

Getting the base right is what keeps a large industrial frame square and stable for the life of the building.

Stage 2: Steel Frame Erection

• Steel packs are set on the base plates to bring the columns to the correct height. 
• The columns are lifted into position, then the eaves beams and ties are fitted to begin forming the frame. Wall bracing is fitted to keep the frame rigid.
• Rafters are erected and secured with roof purlins and roof bracing.
• Door columns are set in place, and the side and gable rails are fitted, ready for cladding.

Stage 3: Lining, Levelling and Safety Prep

• All the steelwork is carefully lined and levelled across the frame. 
• The column bases are grouted in to lock the structure in position.
• Handrail and safety netting are fitted at this stage, ready for the roof to be installed.

Stage 4: Roof Installation

• The roof sheets are installed across the frame. 
• Once the roof is watertight, the safety nets and handrail used during the build are dropped and removed. 
• Drip flashing is fitted where needed to control water run-off at the eaves.

Stage 5: Cladding, Doors and Finishing

• Wall cladding is fitted to weatherproof and finish the structure. 
• Flashings and gutters are installed to direct rainwater away from the building. 
• Doors are hung and adjusted, and any partitions or mezzanine floors are completed. 
• The site is then tidied and cleared, leaving you with a finished industrial building ready to use.

A steel industrial building can take from a few weeks to a few months to install, depending on its size and complexity. Larger structures and difficult site conditions add time, as can the weather. Because the frame is prefabricated off site in our workshop, installation is considerably faster than traditional brick and concrete construction.
